Yangon, Myanmar — 1 August, 2025
Myanmar Telecommunication Network Public Company Ltd (MTN) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for the TT-M-SS Submarine Cable Project, a planned subsea fiber optic system intended to link Yangon, Myanmar with Satun, Thailand.
The RFI invites responses from qualified regional vendors with experience in submarine cable engineering, marine surveys, and offshore cable construction. The initiative is part of MTN’s strategy to strengthen international digital infrastructure and meet the growing demand for broadband capacity across Southeast Asia.
Spanning approximately 1,300 kilometers, the TT-M-SS submarine cable system is expected to expand Myanmar’s connectivity footprint by contributing towards greater route diversity leading to capacity resilience in the region.
The scope of the RFI focuses on the following areas of :
Preliminary Route Engineering and Environmental Desktop Study
Marine Geophysical and Geotechnical Surveys
Submarine Cable System Construction and Installation
Information gathered through this RFI will contribute to the preparation of permit processing, technical planning, and the design of a future Request for Proposal (RFP) phase.
